The Ioannis & Aikaterini Samaras Scholarship Foundation was founded in the Spring of 2020, is based in Athens and funds its core business from own resources.
Its purpose is to award scholarships to Secondary Education graduates and University and Polytechnic School students from Greece, the European Union and the United Kingdom.

Our aim is to contribute with all our powers to the progress of young people, the enhancement of knowledge and the healthy development of society, providing the opportunity to those who excel to complete their education in the field of their choice, whether it is in science, technology, culture or art…

We want to become their active supporters and offer them the necessary, much-needed impetus, to achieve their academic goals.

We strongly believe that education and knowledge can lead the young generation to become a driving force for a more substantial development of humanity.


He was born in Athens in 1925.
The family surname Samaras comes from a nickname given to his great-grandfather, whose name was Panagiotopoulos.
He studied Electrical Mechanical Engineering in the National Technical University of Athens(1966-1971) where he later served as an assistant in the field of heat transfer. .
He did his military service at the 301 Base Factory of the Greek Army, where he got involved in the  transformation of road construction machinery.
Until 1994 he was among the Managers of the company Technical Union S.A.
Since 1994 he established the company International Constructional S.A. Through this company an the company ATERMON S.A. he is actively involved in the field of energy projects with particular emphasis on green power and sustainable development with the construction of Renewable Energy Projects.
He is married to Aikaterini Samaras

She was born in Athens in 1949.
She studied English Literature with the Fulbright Foundation Scholarship Program at the University of Minnesota, USA (1967-1971) and graduated “Bachelor of Arts CUM LAUDE”. She continued her studies, receiving a new scholarship, in the master degree program of the University of Minnesota (1971-1972) and graduated “Master of Arts CUM LAUDE”. , while teaching English to its freshmen.
After completing her master’s degree , Aikaterini Samaras returned to Greece and became actively involved in private foreign language education.
Aikaterini Samaras is a Member of the following international associations:
– International Club of the University of Minnesota, Duluth,
– Alpha Mu Gamma (The National Collegiate Foreign Language Honor Society),
– Kappa Delta Pi (An Honor Society in Education).
She is married to Ioannis Samaras.

The future belongs to those who look ahead, aim high and are properly prepared.
